Sports Certified Grade
In a first for any New Zealand Deer Velvet Antler, Mountain Red has established an on-going program with the leading experts at BSCG to test and certify Mountain Red as suitable for use in sports.
The BSCG Certified Drug Free® supplement certification program offers protection against drugs on the WADA Prohibited List as well as prescription, over-the-counter, and illicit drugs not banned in sport that no other program includes.
The WADA Prohibited List governs Olympic sport and is used by all national anti-doping organisations (NADOs) including ASADA, UKAD, and USADA. It also serves as a model for sport federations, professional sport leagues, college sport, and military/vocational drug-testing programs, which ban many compounds on the WADA Prohibited List. As a result, the BSCG Certified Drug Free® program offers drug testing security to athletes and professionals across the spectrum of WADA, NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, WNBA, PGA, LPGA, MLS, ATP, WTA, CFL, FIFA, FINA, AFL, NRL, NASCAR, UFC, CrossFit, NCAA, military, law enforcement, first responder and other drug testing programs.
The BSCG Certified Drug Free® program provides assurance that Mountain Red products are free of banned substances and other drug contaminants that can lead to health concerns or positive drug tests.
The testing program covers 483 drugs in total, including 272 drugs that are banned by a broad range of sports organisations. Total reassurance and transparency guaranteed with each approved batch noted on www.BSCG.org

BEST PRACTICE AND TRUE GMP
Good Manufacturing Practice
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is the term used to describe the systems manufacturers of supplements are required to have in place to ensure their products are consistently safe, effective and of acceptable quality. The requirements are expressed in a code of practice referred to as a Code of GMP.
Mountain Red was the first manufacturer of GMP Deer Velvet Antler in New Zealand over 20 years ago. Since then some, but not all have followed.
It may surprise our customers that their is no requirement in New Zealand to manufacture supplements to this quality standard, so it's always worth checking
Importantly, a product manufactured in a GMP facility certified does not automatically become GMP - there are additional testing and quality control steps that need to be taken to permit the final product to be classified as "GMP manufactured" - if in doubt ask your supplier to confirm that the product is actually manufactured to this standards. Mountain Red is always cGMP manufactured.
Mountain Red is manufactured here in New Zealand in a facility that is fully audited by the US FDA and the product itself meets all requirements of US FDA standards in terms of quality and testing. Please note, the US FDA regulations require those who manufacture, package, or hold dietary supplements to follow current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) that help ensure the identity, purity, quality, strength, and composition of dietary supplements.
ID Tested for Absolute Quality Assurance
- Product Authenticity: ID testing verifies that the ingredients listed on the supplement label are accurately reflected in the actual product. This prevents issues like substitution or contamination of ingredients, which can lead to health risks or ineffective products.
- Safety: Incorrectly labeled or adulterated supplements can pose serious health risks. ID testing helps identify potential allergens, contaminants, or harmful substances that may be present in the product, safeguarding consumers from unintended exposure to dangerous compounds.
- Quality Assurance: ID testing is a cornerstone of quality control in the supplement industry. It ensures that consumers receive the exact composition and quality of ingredients they expect when purchasing a supplement.
- Efficacy: Supplements are often used to address specific health concerns or deficiencies. If the ingredients are not accurately identified, the product might not provide the intended health benefits, leading to disappointment and wasted resources.
- Regulatory Compliance: Regulatory agencies, such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), require accurate labeling of dietary supplements. ID testing helps manufacturers comply with these regulations and provide transparent information to consumers. If a Deer Velvet product is not confirmed through ID testing, then it will not meet the requirements for regulatory compliance in some countries, such as the USA and Australia.
- Building Trust: Accurate labeling and transparent practices build trust between manufacturers and consumers.
- Preventing Fraud: The supplement market can sometimes be susceptible to fraudulent practices. ID testing is a way to discourage unethical behavior, such as the intentional mislabeling of ingredients to cut costs or deceive consumers.
